Various data bases for species data (presence/absence and movement) do exist:
- movebank.org provides a large list of animal tracking data. Data can be uploaded by anybody and access levels assigned individually (full sharing to no sharing at all or just for selected other users). Moreover preliminary data pre-processing and annotation with environmental data can be achieved. Can be accessed through R via the move package
- TOPP.org offers maps and information on tagged pacific predators
- gbif.org offers access to occurrence data (also via gbif() or rgbif() commands in R)
Various data portals for environmental data do exist (remote sensing and GIS based data sets):
- www.remote-sensing-biodiversity.org/resources offers a continously updated list of different data platforms ranging from remote sensing data portals to spatial model data sets or GIS layers.
